French Riviera and Monaco

Hotel spa consultant on the French Riviera

Are you opening or taking over a hotel spa in Nice, Cannes, Antibes or Monaco? I’m a consultant in hotel spa openings and operations. I set up what keeps the spa running: team, procedures, schedules, treatment menu and links with the hotel.

I’m based in Finistère, Brittany, and travel to the Riviera for projects. I start with a site visit, then the work moves forward remotely and on site depending on the stage.

01

Hotels at 67% occupancy, led by the upper end

In 2025, the French Riviera and Monaco received more than 12.5 million tourists, about half of them from abroad, according to the Côte d’Azur France observatory. Hotels reached 67% occupancy, their best level on record, and passed 11 million overnight stays for the first time. 4 and 5-star hotels account for 52% of hotel stays in the Alpes-Maritimes.

Four hotels awarded the palace distinction in 2026 are in the department: the Hôtel Martinez in Cannes, a newcomer, the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes and the Château Saint-Martin & Spa in Vence. Monaco has 13 classified hotels and 2,460 rooms, with 64.5% occupancy in 2025.

02

A full summer, European and American guests

In 2025, hotel occupancy averaged more than 85% from June to September and neared 90% in August. No month fell below 40%. Among foreign stays, all accommodation types combined, Italy leads (15.7%), ahead of Great Britain and Ireland (13.2%), the United States (12.5%) and Germany (8.5%).

For a hotel spa, that means a summer where every slot counts and shoulder seasons to fill. The menu and schedules have to follow both rhythms.

03

A team to recruit every season

The Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region has 231,000 seasonal workers, according to a March 2026 presentation by France Travail and the regional tourism board. 46% of seasonal full-time equivalents, excluding temp work, are in accommodation and food service, against 32% nationally. Hospitality, food service and tourism account for 22% of the region’s planned hires, or 47,200, 63% of them seasonal. Written procedures help a team that partly changes every year get up to speed quickly.

04

What I bring to a spa on the Riviera

I’ve helped recruit and prepare spa teams for openings, at the Villars Palace in Switzerland and in Méribel in the Alps. I’ve also managed an independent hotel in Brittany, which taught me to connect the spa with the rest of the property.

On a Riviera project, I define the roles and write the job descriptions, take part in interviews, write procedures and checklists, and build schedules from demand scenarios. After launch, a dashboard tracks performance season after season.

My full method is described on the hotel spa consulting page.

Frequently asked questions

Do you travel to the French Riviera and Monaco?

Yes. I come on site at the start of the project, then for interviews, test days and the opening of the season or the spa.

Which languages do you work in?

French and English. Team materials can exist in both languages to welcome international guests.

How does an assignment work remotely and on site?

The first visit lets me see the spa, the team and the hotel. Job descriptions, procedures and schedules then move forward remotely, with regular check-ins. I come back on site to launch with the team.
